The documentation and photographs above are of a lime kiln in the Town of Barre stated to be located just off East Lee Road, RT. 31A, less than one-quarter mile north of Mathes Road.
See known No. 12 locations of all lime kilns in Town of Barre as were marked on an 1860 map of Orleans County. There are four known limekiln sites on Rt. 31A. Note that the northern most one was in the Town of Barre before being redistricted when the Town of Albion was formed.
